How to calculate surface area?
You need to find out how many sq M of paving needs to be coated, including any edges. For around the pool determine the pool length and width first in metres (one large step is a metre).
So (Length + Width) x 2 = perimeter, “A” in the formula below.
Now how wide is the pavement – path, which is “B” in formula below?
(Add any edges, like coping tiles if you want to coat these too for “B“). So Sq M to coat is: perimeter (A) and width of pavement (B) of your swimming pool.
Use following formula:
A x B x 1.1
Example:
Your pool is 9m long and 4.5m wide that gives 27m perimeter.
Pavement width 1.2 m (inc coping)
27 x 1.2 x 1.1=35.7 sq.m (say 36 sq M)
In more complicated cases, (such as a free shape pavement), if you need help in measuring the surface area please send us the plan if available.
